SSP Group PLC (LSE:SSPG) said it appointed Jonathan Davies as its deputy chief executive officer, alongside his role of chief financial officer.
The appointment, which takes effect immediately, follows the recent announcement that Simon Smith will step down as CEO of the group, which operates food and drinks outlets in travel locations worldwide.
SSP said the process to find Smiths’s successor is progressing well.
Mike Clasper, SSP’s chairman, said: "I'm delighted that Jonathan is taking on this role, which will ensure continuity of leadership during the transition period and provide invaluable support to the new CEO when appointed.
“Jonathan's long experience and extensive knowledge of the business have been key to SSP in responding to the challenges of the pandemic. Under his stewardship, SSP has maintained a tight control of its operating costs and created a strong liquidity position. His financial and commercial expertise will continue to be essential as we move into the next phase of our strategy, re-opening the estate and taking advantage of the many new opportunities we anticipate as the travel sector recovers."
