BlueRock Diamonds sells 58 carat stone for US$585,000

BlueRock Diamonds PLC has sold three gem-quality stones from the Kareevlei Mine in Kimberley South Africa for a total of US$1.1mln, including the largest, a 58.6-carat gem, for US$585,000.

The other two stones weighing 21.6 carats and 14.3 carats were sold for US$268,000 and US$236,000 respectively.

Mike Houston, executive chairman said: "We are delighted with the price achieved for each of these high-quality diamonds, which brought the total sales proceeds for the August tender to US$2.1mln, far exceeding the previous highest monthly sale of approximately US$900,000. The average price per carat for the whole parcel was approximately US$800."

BlueRock added it has now sold eight gem-quality stones from Kareevlei this year at a value of more than US$50,000 each.

Proceeds from large diamond sales in 2021 now total US$1.52mln.
