Kin Mining NL (ASX:KIN) continues to highlight the potential to grow the 1.23-million-ounce resource inventory and make new discoveries at Cardinia Gold Project (CGP) in Western Australia with strong results from the new Eagle-Crow prospect and from Cardinia Hill.
Initial reverse circulation drilling at Eagle-Crow 2 kilometres west of CGP has returned assays of up to 17 metres at 3.78 g/t gold from 43 metres and 6 metres at 4.19 g/t from 13 metres.
The results build on numerous previous high-grade aircore drilling intercepts at Eagle-Crow in adjacent lines of drilling.
“Shows great promise”
Kin Mining managing director Andrew Munckton said: “The Eagle-Crow area on the western side of the CGP is continuing to show great promise. This is the first deeper RC drilling below the encouraging aircore intercepts reported earlier this year, and we are very encouraged by the results.”
Within the 17-metre intersection was 4 metres at 5.45 g/t from 43 metres and 3 metres at 12.9 g/t from 54 metres with other strong results including 6 metres at 4.19 g/t from 13 metres underneath 3 metres at 2.03 g/t from 29 metres and 5 metres at 3.10 g/t from 55 metres.
These results confirm the presence of mineralisation over 500 metres of strike at Eagle and two zones, each extending over a strike length of about 400 metres, at Crow.
Eagle-Crow potential
The latest results continue to reinforce the interpretation that Eagle-Crow hosts a number of zones of coherent gold mineralisation which warrant further closer spaced RC drilling that is aimed at defining additional mineral resources from the Cardinia Project area.
This mineralisation exhibits similar characteristics to other significant deposits at the CGP, including Bruno-Lewis and Kyte.
Munckton said: “Drilling has clearly demonstrated the potential for multiple zones of shallow, high-grade gold mineralisation which require further drilling to confirm their geometry and continuity and lay the foundations for future resource estimation.
“However, we can see clear potential in this area to delineate additional deposits with the potential to make a meaningful future contribution to our resource inventory.”
Cardinia Hill entension
Kin is also encouraged by strong assays from step-out drilling to the north of recently reported results at the Cardinia Hill deposit that extend the deposit ahead of scheduled resource upgrade next month.
Results including 5 metres at 5.11 g/t gold from 56 metres confirm a third shoot of shallow high-grade mineralisation.
Drilling further along strike intersected narrow zones of moderate grade mineralisation coincident with the Cardinia Hill Fault position indicating the potential for further zones of economic mineralisation in this area. The Cardinia Hill drilling now extends for 1 kilometre.
“On other fronts, step-out drilling has delivered encouraging results to the north of Cardinia Hill, highlighting what appears to be a third high-grade shoot,” the MD said.
“This information will be incorporated in the pending resource upgrade for Cardinia Hill, which is expected to be completed next month.”
The new results reinforce Kin’s view that Eagle-Crow offers compelling potential for an emerging gold discovery on the western side of Cardinia and that the Cardinia Hill trend holds significant discovery potential subject to additional drilling.
Other exploration
Diamond drilling is continuing at the Fouracre Nickel sulphide target, about 60 kilometres north of Leonora. Initial drilling is expected to be completed in approximately two weeks.
At Mt Flora, a second phase of aircore drilling has been undertaken to follow up and step out
from the discovery program, with an additional 268 holes being drilled for 10,763 metres completed in Phase 2, targeting extensions to earlier high-grade results, like 22 metres at 8.96 g/t from 42 metres.
A second phase of aircore drilling was also completed at Iron King, where around 10,700 metres was targeted at the Dalzeil trend to follow up earlier high-grade results achieved in the maiden aircore program and the historically mined Iron King trend.
Data analysis and interpretation of the recently completed gravity survey at the greater Cardinia area is being undertaken by Southern Geoscience geophysical consultants. The analysed data is scheduled to be handed over to Kin Mining in early September.
The update to the Cardinia Hill mineral resource estimate is with Cube Consulting and remains on schedule to be completed later this quarter.
