Cyclone Metals Ltd (ASX:CLE) has enhanced the skillset of its board adding operational expertise and invaluable in-field knowledge through the appointment of William Scott as a non-executive director, effective September 1, 2021.
The field knowledge relates to the area around the company’s newly acquired Nickol River Gold Project east of Karratha in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
Cyclone is also expected to benefit from the new director’s operational experience in the region as well as in gold exploration and mining.
“Extensive practical experience”
The company’s non-executive chairman Terry Donnelly said: ”Mr Scott brings extensive practical experience and field knowledge specifically in the region where the company has just acquired the Nickol River Project.”
Investors have responded positively to the appointment with CLE shares up 16.67% to 0.7 cents.
William Scott spent 39 years as the owner/manager of pastoral properties in the Murchison Region of Western Australia where he successfully integrated prospecting and earth moving into his business model, as the owner and executive director of Wyn Contracting Pty Ltd.
Operational background
In 2012 he relocated and integrated the earth moving component of his business to Karratha assuming the role of operations manager at Nickol River Fill Pty Ltd, establishing a successful sand and rock quarry.
Then in 2016, William Scott focused his attention to small-scale mining and prospecting, with joint venture partnerships in the Karratha area of the West Pilbara.
He has successfully explored and identified primary resource ore bodies as well as recovering substantial quantities of gold in alluvial/eluvial style, in gold nugget and gold specimen form.
Use of gold discovery techniques
Another area of his expertise that is expected to benefit Cyclone is his extensive mapping of gold discovery locations using technologies such as Sub Audio Magnetics (SAM).
This technique has been used to identify primary gold ore bodies in the West Pilbara and is currently being used by a number of explorers in the region.
Nickol River geology
Nickol River Project is within the Karratha Terrane on the north side of the Sholl Shear Zone, near the margin of the Karratha Granodiorite.
The tenements are underlain by the Roebourne Group, dominantly the peridotitic komatiite Ruth Well Formation.
In addition to komatiite, the Ruth Well Formation includes komatiitic basalt, tholeiite, chert and peridotite and dolerite sills.
The immediate area surrounding and including the Nickol River tenements has been explored for gold since 1889.
Cyclone proposes to carry out a SAM ground-based geophysical survey over the tenements, targeting primary structures and that may be host to gold mineralisation.
