Mindset Pharma says its Family 3 psilocybin analogs demonstrate long-acting duration in preclinical trials

The results have meaningful implications for psychedelic-based therapy at low doses, Mindset’s CEO James Lanthier said

Mindset Pharma Inc (CSE:MSET, OTCQB:MSSTF, FRA:9DF) announced positive preclinical results from research on its Family 3 group of psilocybin compounds that could significantly improve the sustained effectiveness and safety profile of microdosing practices.

The company said in a statement that research on the compounds, comprised of long-acting psilocybin side-chain restricted analogs, demonstrated “extended duration of action” and decreased effect size at the 5-HT2A receptor.

Essentially, the in-vivo results indicated that the compounds showed around one-tenth of the effect size as psilocybin, according to Mindset’s chief scientific officer Joseph Araujo, and a longer duration – meaning one dose could be effective for one or even two full days.

The results have meaningful implications for psychedelic-based therapy at low doses, Mindset’s CEO James Lanthier said in a statement.

“These findings indicate the potential for us to change the paradigm of microdosing therapies by delivering the therapeutic benefits of psychedelics with limited potential to elicit a hallucinogenic experience at a wide range of effective doses,” Lanthier said.

Chief scientific officer Joseph Araujo added: “We plan to continue testing our low-dose Family 3 NCEs in translational preclinical animal models to elucidate potential cognitive-enhancing effects of our compounds.”

Mindset’s Family 3 compounds are next-generation psilocybin analogs engineered to deliver the therapeutic benefits associated with microdosing across a range of doses while limiting hallucinogenic liability.

The Toronto-based company is running tests to select the optimal psychedelic drug candidates to progress towards human clinical trials.
