Panthera Resources unearths significant gold mineralisation at Bassala project

"The assays to date are very encouraging for first pass aircore drilling,” said managing director Mark Bolton

Panthera Resources PLC (LSE:PAT) has unearthed what it describes as significant gold mineralisation in drill results from the Bassala project in southwestern Mali.

Recent aircore drilling confirmed the presence of significant gold mineralisation, the company said in a statement, highlighting grades up to 5.1 grams per tonne.

Drilling tested four of thirteen targets identified to date at Bassala and all four returned significant gold intercepts, it added. So far, it has had assays from some 22% of 2,191 five-metre samples taken in the AC drill programme and it expects the rest of the results in the coming weeks.

"The assays to date are very encouraging for first pass aircore drilling,” said managing director Mark Bolton.

“It is encouraging that the current interpretation is that mineralisation may in part be flat-lying, similar to the nearby Kalana mineralisation (Endeavour Resources) which consists of a series of stacked sub-horizontal zones.

“If this interpretation is correct, only the uppermost zones will have been intersected in this shallow drilling, with potential for further zones at depth."
