Alternus Energy appoints corporate governance veteran Tone Bjørnov to its board of directors

Alternus said Bjørnov's expertise in corporate finance and governance will be an asset to the company's ambitious growth plans

Alternus Energy Group PLC has announced the appointment of Tone Bjørnov as a non-executive director to the company’s board, effective immediately.  

Bjørnov has worked as a portfolio non-executive director in several Scandinavian companies across various sectors from banks and financial institutions to shipping, real estate, media, biotech and aquaculture. She has also chaired multiple board committees including risk, audit and nomination in listed companies.  

“Her expertise in corporate finance and corporate governance will be a huge asset to the company and assist with our ambitious growth plans following our recent listing on the Euronext Growth Market in Oslo,” Alternus Energy Group CEO Vincent Browne said in a statement.

“We very much look forward to working with her and utilizing her expertise of public listings in the Scandinavian markets,” Browne added.   

Bjørnov also commented, stating: “Alternus has achieved significant growth over the past 12 months in terms of portfolio and investment. I am excited to contribute to the company’s further success and become part of their sunshine story.”

Alternus Energy has grown in five years from being a small Romania-based operator of two solar parks with 6 megawatts-peak (MWp) to becoming a pan-European independent power producer with 23 solar photovoltaic (PV) parks and a total installed capacity of 65 MWp in four countries.

The company aims to own and operate over 3.5 gigawatts (GWs) of solar parks by the end of 2025 and to become one of the largest pan-European independent power producers by the end of the decade.
