Moho Resources Ltd (ASX:MOH) has concluded aircore drilling at two key gold prospects within the Silver Swan North Project in Western Australia.
The gold and nickel explorer executed 158 aircore holes for more than 7,600 metres during an initial aircore campaign over the Tyrells and Hodges prospects.
Moho tested the property’s gold-in-soil anomalies north of East Sampson Dam, a gold deposit with a 21,600-ounce interim mineral resource.
All aircore samples have been submitted to the laboratory, with assays expected in the coming quarter.
Looking forward to assays
Moho Resources managing director Shane Sadleir said: “We look forward with great anticipation to receipt of the assay results from this first systematic drill program at Tyrells and Hodges.
“Any significant gold mineralisation identified here should be viewed in the context of Moho’s nearby 100%-owned JORC mineral resource at East Sampson Dam, announced in July 2021.”
Specifically, East Sampson Dam’s interim mineral resource stands at 264,000 tonnes, grading at 2.5 g/t gold for 21,600 ounces at a 0.5 g/t cut-off.
The vast majority of the resource — 13,800 ounces, or 70.2% — lies in the indicated category.
At the time, Sadleir said the interim resource estimate was a big step forward for the company.
“Completion of the interim mineral resource estimate marks a major milestone for Moho in advancing the East Sampson Dam prospect to potential gold production.
“Importantly there is significant potential to increase the resource estimate given that mineralisation is open to the north, south and at depth.
“With that in mind, we are aggressively accelerating drill programs into the second half of this year while commencing a scoping study to progress mine development.”
Tyrells and Hodges campaign
During the initial aircore campaign, Moho completed 7,659 metres of drilling at the Silver Swan North Project.
Samples were collected every metre, while four-metre composite samples were submitted for gold analysis.
The final metre of each hole was also sampled and submitted for gold and a suite of base metal and pathfinder elements.
Promisingly, multiple lithologies and alteration were encountered during the drilling campaign, which covered 2.5 kilometres of gold anomalism strike.
Next on the agenda
Now the initial program has run its course, Moho is waiting on technical assays from the aircore campaign.
In the meantime, the company has appointed a mining engineer to kick off a scoping study in a bid to advance mine development at the East Samson Dam deposit using a toll mining facility.
It’s hoped the scoping study will finalise in 2021’s second half.
In tandem, Moho will run a reverse circulation program at the gold deposit to test mineralisation extensions along strike to the north and south and at depth.
Another aircore program will get underway to test multiple gold-in-soil anomalies at Silver Swan North’s Happs and Yalumba prospects, which lie to the southeast of East Sampson Dam.
Later this year, Moho will also review the West Australian project’s nickel potential and prepare a subsequent exploration campaign.
