Archer Materials Ltd (ASX:AXE, OTC:ARRXF)’s patent application related to its graphene-based biochip technology has progressed to the National Phase of the US patent granting procedure.
The company is developing and commercialising advanced semiconductor devices, including chips relevant to quantum computing and medical diagnostics.
The latest patent has been filed in the US and assigned a US Application Number, which enables Archer to pursue and achieve patent granting in the US for the respective patent application.
Key strategic jurisdiction
The US is a key strategic jurisdiction for Archer to protect and commercialise its IP.

Patents key part of AXE’s IP
National Phase entry in Australia, as well as the US, has been sought by Archer for the biochip related patent application.
Archer has made the move because patents are only granted in each country by the relevant national patent office.
As such, the National Phase entry is a key requirement in the process for the granting of a patent internationally.
Archer views its patents as assets that create value through future technology development, licensing, monetisation and transactions for revenue generation.
Patent applications related to its 12CQ chip are progressing in later stages of the patent granting procedures in the US and Europe.
The 12CQ chip is a quantum computing chip: a world-first technology the company is building for quantum computing operation at room temperature and integration onboard modern electronic devices.
South Korean patent
Just last week, Archer reached a commercial milestone with the granting of a patent protecting its CQ chip in South Korea, which has a world-leading semiconductor industry.
Archer has been busy in recent times, expanding its access to institutional deep tech infrastructure.
To facilitate this move, it has hired new personnel to develop its biochip technology. New hires have specific knowledge that can underpin Archer’s IP. This knowledge is difficult to acquire and is supported by outcomes of years of R&D that ranks in the top percentiles of peer-reviewed scientific published works globally.
In other words, Archer’s technology is unique, with the company being one of the only in the world developing a qubit processor chip in the semiconductor industry.
