Sipa Resources Ltd (ASX:SRI) is continuing a busy work program across its portfolio of Western Australian gold and base metal projects this quarter including an initial drilling campaign at the Warralong Gold Project.
At Warralong, the company has completed two heritage surveys and has also received two programs of work intending to start an initial drilling program in the current quarter.
Sipa also has work programs at the Wolfe Basin base metals and Paterson North copper-gold farm-in project.
Warralong (Sipa 100%)
After completing heritage surveys and receiving a program of works approval over initial drill targets on the two recently granted tenements E45/5740 and E45/5687, the company is now planning for drill testing, which is anticipated to start in the current quarter.
The first-round drilling at the project will test a range of target types along the Lalla Rookh shear and its associated splays, generated from Sipa’s detailed aeromagnetic survey.
Sipa’s 100%-owned tenements contain drill targets prospective for Hemi-style gold and pegmatite-hosted lithium, and the company is planning to target untested intrusions interpreted from its 2020 aeromagnetic survey along the major Lalla Rookh Shear Zone and associated splay faults.
The targets, which have never previously been drill tested, include interpreted discrete intrusions, favourable structural positions and alteration zones.
Sipa’s program will also provide important lithostratigraphic information to build a robust geological model of the basement which is obscured by shallow sheet wash in this area.
Wolfe Basin
Sipa recently completed a dipole-dipole induced polarisation (DDIP) survey over the Romulus prospect where the company completed an RC drill program in late 2020.
The DDIP results show a distinct, chargeable feature at about 150-200 metres below surface immediately to the east of the previous drilling.
The goal of the DDIP survey was to provide a cross-sectional view of electrically chargeable bodies such as sulphide accumulations and assist in refining the next drill program at Wolfe Basin.
At Wolfe Basin, the first drill program intersected base metals up to 2.9% lead, and 0.5% copper, with extensive areas remaining to be tested along over 40 kilometres long prospective horizon.
Sipa’s previous drilling tested the western edge of the IP anomaly encountering abundant pyrite-quartz veining in the hole WBC004.
Given the proximity of the IP anomaly to base metals anomalism, this is a worthwhile target for future drill testing.
This drill program will target both base metal sulphides that may exist down-dip below the weathered zone encountered in the 2020 program as well as the newly identified DDIP targets.
Paterson North
The Paterson North Copper-Gold Project is being progressed in partnership with Rio Tinto Ltd.
Sipa has been conducting an extensive gradient array induced polarisation (GAIP) geophysical survey at the project since early July.
The results from the GAIP survey will be combined with the other geophysical data already collected to refine existing drill targets and potentially identify new targets prospective for copper-gold mineralisation.
