Quadrise Fuel lauds positive bioMSAR test results

The CO2 reductions are in the region of 26-28% versus conventional liquid fuels, whereas savings offered by existing fuels are more typically in the 10-15% range

Quadrise Fuels International PLC (AIM:QFI, FRA:8QF) said testing of its new low carbon alternative to heavy fuel bioMSAR oil has revealed a greater-than-expected reduction in CO2 emissions.

The CO2 reductions are in the region of 26-28% versus conventional liquid fuels, whereas savings offered by existing fuels are more typically in the 10-15% range.

Engine efficiency was shown to be improved by up to 7% by the comprehensive suite of tests on a Wärtsilä 4-stroke engine at the VTT facility in Finland.

Meanwhile, Aquafuel Research, a British specialist in renewable power innovation using biofuels and glycerine, is to conduct further testing of Quadrise’s bioMSAR fuel to optimise emissions and engine performance later this month.

Quadrise will be attending the tests at the Aquafuel site and some of this work will be included in the final segment of filming for Quadrise's contribution to the UK Chamber of Shipping's "Making Waves: The Future of Shipping" programme, to be launched on 13 September as part of London International Shipping Week.

Quadrise expects the results of further testing at Aquafuel to be available by the end of September.

"We are very pleased to share the positive bioMSAR test results – especially those relating to CO2 reductions and higher efficiencies. Quadrise is making great progress on bioMSAR testing and development,” said Mike Kirk, the chairman of Quadrise.

“This work is crucial in enabling Quadrise to offer customers a lower cost renewable fuel solution, alongside our existing MSAR fuel, and we look forward to sharing further information with shareholders during Q3 2021,” he added.
