Galena Mining Ltd (ASX:G1A, FRA:GM6) has ordered two key long lead-time items for the Abra Plant, a processing facility within the Abra Base Metals Project in Western Australia.
Abra Mining Pty Limited, the joint venture company for Galena’s 60%-owned lead-silver project, has placed the order for the plant’s ball mill and concentrate filter.
The ball mill is mostly used for crushing and grinding the materials into an extremely fine form while the concentrate filter is used in separating solids from liquids or removing impurities and suspended solids from industrial wastewater.
These items have a combined order value of about $9 million.
Key step in plant build program
Galena managing director Tony James said: “Ordering this equipment now is a key step in the plant build program for Abra.
“The ball mill and the concentrate filter are internationally sourced long lead-time items required for the plant and the company in consultation with GR Engineering has chosen trusted, industry-leading suppliers for both items.”
Abra Base Metals Project
Abra Base Metal Project is a globally significant lead-silver project in the Gascoyne region of Western Australia.
The company completed an outstanding definitive/bankable feasibility study for the development of a mine and processing facility with a 16-year life producing a high-value, high-grade lead-silver concentrate containing about 95,000 tonnes of lead and 805,000 ounces of silver per year after ramp-up.
Plant equipment
Abra’s ball mill will be manufactured by CITIC-Heavy Industries Co. Ltd, a leading manufacturer of mining and ore processing equipment in Henan, China.
The concentrate filter (horizontal filter press) will be manufactured by Ishigaki Co, a leader in industrial-scale water separation/filtration technologies globally, at their manufacturing facility in Sakaide on Kagawa Island, Japan.
The unit ordered is the fully automated horizontal batch pressure filter (LASTA MC).
