Gamesys Group PLC (LSE:GYS) (LSE:GYS) has reported higher earnings and revenues in its first half amid what the company said was “significant double-digit revenue growth” in its key UK and Asia markets.
In its results for the six months to June 30, the online gambling software group reported adjusted earnings (EBITDA) of £110.3mln, a 16% increase year-on-year, while revenue rose 17% to £398.8mln.
Gamesys noted that during the period it had continued to “execute successfully” across its key performance indicators, saying the average number of active players per month had increased 16% to 744,807, with monthly real money revenue per average active player rising 5% to £84.
In the UK market, revenues increased 20% in the period, while Asia jumped 30%, helping to offset declines of 29% and 1% in Europe and the Rest of the World respectively.
Looking ahead, the company said it is continuing to “significantly expand” its player base and is “well placed to deliver sustainable and long-term growth”.
"The group has delivered another set of excellent results for the first half of 2021 with revenue growth of 17% and adjusted EBITDA increasing by 16% during the period. This performance reflected significant double-digit revenue growth in our key markets of the UK and Asia and our continuing strong cash flow has seen leverage reduce further. We are fully focused on operational execution, product innovation and the enhancement of safer gambling initiatives across all of our markets and we remain fully confident in the group's ability to deliver long-term sustainable growth," chief executive Lee Fenton said in a statement.
