SUDA Pharmaceuticals Ltd (ASX:SUD) has appointed highly experienced and qualified Dr Debora Barton, as an independent non-executive director.
Dr Barton has over 20 years of experience in the field of oncology.
After practising oncology as a physician and clinical trial investigator, she spent five years at Novartis and five years at Celgene in roles of increasing responsibilities in Medical Affairs and Clinical Development.
While working as senior vice president of clinical and head of safety at Iovance Biotherapeutics (NASDAQ:IOVA), a clinical-stage company engaged in developing T cell therapies for cancer treatment, she gained extensive experience in working with cell therapy products.

SUDA chief executive officer and managing director Dr Michael Baker said: “We are delighted that someone with a track record like Debora’s will be a part of our group at SUDA.
“She has a phenomenal amount of experience in developing oncology products across a range of areas, and most recently cell therapies.
“Her experience will add an important dimension to our board as we progress toward clinical trials.”
Current engagements
Dr Barton is currently working as the chief medical officer of Carisma Therapeutics, a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company, developing innovative immunotherapies including the first in class chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) macrophages for the treatment of certain cancers.
She is a member of the Manhattan board of directors for the American Cancer Society and is also a member of the medical advisory board of the Tigerlily Foundation, a national breast cancer foundation providing education, awareness, advocacy and hands-on support to young women before, during and after breast cancer.
