Argonaut Resources welcomes new non-executive director

The company believes the new non-executive director’s experience in Australia, London and various remote operating environments will complement its current operations in Australia and Zambia.

Argonaut Resources NL (ASX:ARE) has appointed Michael Billing, an industry veteran with over 40 years of experience, as a non-executive director.

Argonaut’s CEO Lindsay Owler said: “We are very pleased to welcome Mick to the company as an independent, non-executive director.

“Mick’s arrival has come at a time when Argonaut, and the mineral exploration sector generally, is very active.

“Mick’s experience in Australia, London and various remote operating environments will complement the company’s current operations in Australia and Zambia as well as its ambitions generally in the field of copper exploration and development.”

The new director

Billing has over 40 years of mining and agri-business experience and a background in finance, specialising in recent years in establishing and managing junior companies.

He has worked across company secretarial, senior commercial and CFO roles, including lengthy periods with Bougainville Copper (ASX:BOC) Ltd and WMC Resources Ltd.

He has worked extensively with junior resource companies over the past 15 years and is currently chairman of Thor Mining PLC (AIM:THR, FRA:T5MC, OTCQB:THORF, ASX:THR).

Mobilising to site ahead of diamond drilling at Zambian copper-cobalt deposit

The company is currently mobilising to the Nyungu copper-cobalt deposit in north-western Zambia in preparation for a 2,800-metre drilling program, targeting extensions to known deposits and infill drilling for maiden resource estimation.

The drilling program is designed to expand the scale of the Nyungu Central and Nyungu South deposits and should finalise in about 12 weeks.

The program will also provide data for resource estimation and samples for metallurgical testing purposes.

The Nyungu copper-cobalt deposit is part of Argonaut’s 90% held Lumwana West project, located between Barrick Gold Corp’s Lumwana Mine and First Quantum Mineral’s Sentinel Mine in Zambia.

Yesterday, Argonaut announced it had temporarily suspended drilling operations at its Murdie project in South Australia due to bad weather conditions. As it waits for the rain to pass, the company will refine its drilling targets amid advanced discussions with a leading provider of mineral exploration artificial intelligence.
