Galileo Mining kicks off Fraser Range drilling campaign

The company’s current reverse circulation drilling is planned to intercept the top of the modelled conductors to provide information on the source of the modelled EM anomalies.

Galileo Mining Ltd (ASX:GAL) has started reverse circulation (RC) drilling at the Delta Blues prospect in Western Australia’s Fraser Range Nickel Belt.

The company has identified two high priority nickel targets at DB1 and DB2, which will be tested with the current RC drilling program.

Galileo’s RC program, consisting of five drill holes for 1,000 metres, is designed to test the top of electromagnetic (EM) conductors at the DB1 and DB2 targets.

The company expects the current initial drilling program to finalise in around two weeks, with subsequent assays and a market update to follow soon after.

Excited to start deep drilling campaign

Galileo managing director Brad Underwood said: “We are very excited to have started the first deep drilling campaign at our Delta Blues prospect.

“The quality of the modelled EM conductors combined with the magnetic and gravity interpretations provide a strong case for potential sulphide mineralisation.

“RC drilling will deliver a good test of the near-surface sections of the DB1 and DB2 targets.

“The present drilling campaign is expected to take two weeks to complete, and we look forward to updating the market as results become available.”

Follow up drilling program

According to Galileo, the current RC drilling is expected to provide critical information for the design of follow-up diamond drilling, expected to occur later in the year.

This phase of exploration is anticipated to test the deeper parts of the EM conductors, with timing subject to rig availability.

Galileo believes the DB1 and DB2 prospects represent compelling targets, with EM anomalies at both sites supported by positive interpretations of magnetic, gravity and aircore drilling data.

The top of the conductor at DB1 starts at 175 metres below the surface, while the top of the conductor at DB2 is just 125 metres below the surface.

The current RC drilling is planned to intersect the top of the modelled conductors to provide information on the source of the modelled EM anomalies.

It has made a strong case for potential mineralisation at the drill targets by implementing EM surveying, aircore drilling, magnetic modelling and gravity interpretation.
