Sensyne Health dataset jumps to 60mln patients

The enlarged dataset results from Sensyne's investment in the virtual clinical development company Phesi

Clinical AI specialist Sensyne Health PLC (AIM:SENS, FRA:DSH) said its dataset of clinical research, trial and real-world patients now totals more than 60mln.

This enlarged dataset results from Sensyne's investment in the virtual clinical development company Phesi in January 2021 and the progress made by both businesses in building their respective data platforms, said the statement.

Between December 2020 and July 2021, Phesi grew its clinical research and clinical trial dataset from 13mln to 42mln patients through a concerted effort in acquiring and structuring data registries of de-identified data.

At the same time, Sensyne grew its real-world patient dataset to over 18mln patients from 6mln.

This data will help drug developers by identifying relationships between one disease and another, said Sensyne, and help in building predictive models that can be an early warning that the drugs may or may not work

Lord Drayson, Sensyne Health’s chief executive, said: "Sixty million patients is an important milestone in our journey to create the world's best data resource for medical research.

"However, it is the quality and depth of the data across many disease areas and the combination of both clinical research data, clinical trials data and longitudinal real-world data from electronic patient records, that makes the database such a powerful tool for research professionals in both the life sciences and healthcare sectors."

Sensyne added that Dr Vishal Gulati has stepped down from the board, but will act as a consultant on a part-time basis.

Sir Bruce Keogh, chairman, said: "Vishal has been a key member of the board for several years and has played a pivotal role in guiding Sensyne through its transition from a private into a publicly listed company on the London Stock Exchange.”
