Brookside Energy on schedule with pre-completion operations at pioneer Jewell Well in Anadarko Basin

With pre-completion work underway, the energy company is a step closer to bringing the Jewell Well into production — the first within its 'core of the core' holding in the world-class Anadarko Basin in Oklahoma.

Brookside Energy Ltd (ASX:BRK) is pushing ahead with pre-completion activities at its pioneer Jewell Well in the world-class Anadarko Basin of Oklahoma, USA, as it prepares to move the key oil and gas asset into production.

Some of the key activities include installing crucial equipment, pressure testing ahead of production and conducting mechanical integrity testing on the Jewell Well’s infrastructure.

The well is the first in a five-year, 20-well-plus well inventory strategy, centred on three operated development areas within Brookside’s SWISH Area of Interest (AOI) in the Anadarko oil and gas basin.

Looking ahead, Brookside will finalise its pre-completion activities and prepare the well for the Liberty Oilfield Services crew, who will facilitate Jewell’s completion.

Key pre-completion activities

As it prepares to complete the Jewell Well and bring it into production, Brookside is hard at work to complete its pre-completion operations.

The energy company maintains these activities are proceeding on schedule, safely and without incident.

Current operations include:

  • Installing a piece of equipment that controls the flow in an oil or gas well, known as a Christmas tree;
  • Pressure testing this new equipment ahead of production;
  • Moving in and rigging up a coiled tubing unit;
  • Conducting mechanical integrity testing on the production casing;
  • Completing the well’s cement bond log; and
  • Milling the wellbore toe sleeve, a completion tool that is used to establish circulation ahead of well stimulation.

Brookside’s pre-completion update comes just one week after the company appointed North America’s second-largest oilfield services company to conduct completion operations at its Jewell Well oil and gas prospect.

Liberty Oilfield Services will supply and operate the equipment and personnel required to complete the Jewell asset ahead of its move into production.

It will be the first Brookside-operated well to be drilled and completed within the AOI’s broader Jewell drill spacing unit (DSU).

Liberty’s equipment and personnel are expected on-site towards the end of this month to kick off completion activities, with production and sales to follow soon after.
