Western Magnesium moves closer to testing phase as commercialized pilot plant undergoes final build out

The company said testing would begin on its proprietary new reactor within the next 30 days

Western Magnesium Corporation is moving closer to realizing its plans to produce low-cost, green magnesium metal, saying its commercialized pilot plant was now undergoing the final build-out.

The company said testing would begin on its proprietary new reactor within the next 30 days.

Western Magnesium closes $870,000 increased private placement

"When the commercialized pilot plant is fully assembled and operating with our new proprietary reactor, we will be able to scale up production of magnesium metal," said CEO Sam Ataya.

"Once the plant is fully scalable the magnesium metal produced will initially be for the purposes of certification and to engage potential clients within various industries such as automotive, aerospace, casting and Department of Defense, with the goal of establishing long term agreements."

The company added that it will provide further updates as it begins the testing process.

Western Magnesium's research has led to it developing a proprietary technology, which can generate magnesium metal with low labor, high automation, low energy and zero toxic by-products and waste.

It says its continuous silicothermic process means the company can be price competitive, scale up easily, and be environmentally friendly.

Magnesium has a range of uses and is a composite metal, such that it is made to use aluminum and titanium. It is essential in a range of industries, including automotive, aviation, energy and military.

It is a third lighter than aluminum, 60% lighter than titanium and 75% lighter than steel.
