Kingwest Resources extends Menzies gold mineralisation with hits up to 3 metres at 10.6 g/t

The extensional drilling undertaken by the company at Menzies continues to hit high-grade mineralisation outside the current resource envelope.

Kingwest Resources Ltd (ASX:KWR) has extended the gold mineralisation after undertaking extensional drilling at Menzies, which is one of Western Australia’s major historical goldfields, around 130 kilometres north of the globally significant gold deposits of Kalgoorlie, WA.

The drilling, which has extended mineralisation by 70 metres in depth and 200 metres in strike length from the current optimised pit shell, was designed to continue to grow the Menzies mineral resource estimate of 446,200 ounces at 1.26 g/t gold.

Significant result from the drilling include:

  • 7 metres at 5 g/t gold including 3 metres at 10.60 g/t from 163 metres; and
  • 5 metres at 2.35 g/t including 1 metre at 7.55 g/t from 100 metres.

“Potential to grow”

Kingwest Resources CEO Ed Turner said: “Extensional drilling at Menzies continues to hit high-grade mineralisation well outside of current MRE’s and optimised pit shells showing the potential to significantly grow the economic resources and to prove up high-grade underground resources.”

Yunndaga drilling

At Yunndaga, drilling was focused on intersecting mineralisation below and along strike to the north from the current resource outlines and optimised pit shell from the March scoping study.

The significant intersection detected at KWR294 is about 200 metres north of the current open pit and the optimised pit shell while that of KWR296 is about 100 metres deeper than the current pit and 70 metres deeper than the optimised pit shell from the March 2021 scoping study.

High-grade mineralisation remains open at depth and along strike.

Lady Harriet

At Lady Harriet, seven holes were drilled for 1,236 metres and these holes were targeting depth extensions to the current resource.

Drill holes traces and current resource estimate blocks projected to the surface are about 30 metres deeper than the resource estimate outline.

Next Steps

The company has planned further extensional drilling at the Lady Shenton System.

Recent drilling has returned some exceptional intersections below the current resource that appear to be part of high-grade shoots that remain open at depth within the Falcone/Granodiorite Lode.

These include 2 metres at 49.5 g/t gold, 3 metres at 13.0 g/t and 2 metres at 17.6 g/t.
