Golden Mile Resources identifies widespread gold anomalism at Leonora Project

While the company is encouraged by widespread gold mineralisation intersected at Benalla and the untested potential at Ironstone Well, going forward it will focus on the Yarrambee Copper-Zinc Project.

Golden Mile Resources Ltd (ASX:G88) identified widespread gold anomalism during a recently completed 1,345-metre aircore drilling program at Ironstone Well and Benalla projects, part of the Leonora Gold Project within the Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia.

According to the company drilling at the Websters Prospect, which is in the south of the Benalla, was curtailed due to rig issues and the target is considered only partly tested.

Benalla Project

At Benalla, the company has drilled 16 aircore holes for 710 metres following up targets at Wanghi, Benalla Hill, BGT2, BGT3 and Websters.

Best intersections from this program include:

  • 4 metres at 0.68 g/t gold from 37 metres and 4 metres at 0.29 g/t from 45 metres;
  • 4 metres at 0.11 g/t from 40 metres;
  • 4 metres at 0.16 g/t from 36 metres; and
  • 4 metres at 0.17 g/t from 44 metres and 5 metres at 0.16 g/t from 52 metres.

Ironstone Well

The company has undertaken 11 holes for 635 metres at Ironstone Well, around 7 kilometres northeast of Leonora, targeting geochemical anomalies coincident with the folded ‘Pink Pig’ Shear Zone, which can be traced for more than 3 kilometres regionally.

Results include:

  • 4 metres at 0.30 g/t gold from 40 metres and 8 metres at 0.60 g/t from 60 metres;
  • 4 metres at 0.13 g/t from 96 metres;
  • 4 metres at 0.10 g/t from 16 metres; and
  • 4 metres at 0.53 g/t from 60 metres.

The drilling program at Ironstone Well was limited to places where G88 has been able to attain drilling approvals.

Golden Mile is expecting additional approvals, for further drilling on high priority targets in the combined project area, in the coming month.

Encouraged by widespread mineralisation

Golden Mile managing director James Merrillees said the company saw an opportunity for further drilling at Leonora while the focus turns to the Yarrambee base metal project.

He said: “While the company is encouraged by the widespread gold mineralisation intersected to date at Benalla and the untested potential at Ironstone Well, the company’s focus over the coming months will be on the Yarrambee Project and following up the outstanding copper-zinc targets identified from the recently completed airborne survey.

“Planning is now well advanced to source a crew to complete ground electromagnetic surveys prior to drilling on these high priority targets at Yarrambee and I look forward to providing an update on this program in the coming weeks.”

Forward plan

The company is undertaking a strategic review of the Leonora Gold Projects before further drilling is planned in the coming months.

The review will include particular attention on the high-grade mineralisation associated with the newly identified Spectrum Fault at Benalla, and untested high priority gold targets at Ironstone Well.
