Walkabout Resources Ltd (ASX:WKT) has appointed Tony Allen to the role of chief financial officer, effective from July 19, coinciding with the company completing companion equity requirements to enable the drawdown of its US$20 million project debt with CRDB.
That combined funding will enable completion of the construction of Lindi Jumbo Graphite Mine in Tanzania and the beginning of production, which is targeted for the middle of 2022.
“Proven track record”
Walkabout chief executive officer Andrew Cunningham said: "Tony has a proven track record with fast-paced growth mining organisations, where he was responsible for overseeing the commercial aspects of the development and operations of multiple mine sites and played a significant role in growth of those companies.
“He possesses an understanding of growth cycle of international mining operations and has experience in leading organisational establishment for project development.
“With expertise and technical knowledge in all aspects of operations, corporate finance, financial planning, taxation and accounting, I believe Tony is a great addition to our executive team as we look forward to the development and operations of the Lindi Jumbo Graphite Mine and the growth options that provides.
“Being Perth based, Tony will be an important link between the company, Lindi Jumbo and our Australian stakeholders.”
The board would like to thank Shaun Menezes who has been acting in the CFO role over the past year and is set to continue to act as company secretary.
Other board appointments
This follows the company appointing two new non-executive directors on July 16.
Walkabout believes the appointment of Phil Montgomery and Peter Finnimore as non-executive directors is pivotal to the execution of the next phase of its development, bolstering the depth and breadth of skills.
