John Lewis Partnership has announced it is cutting a further 1,000 jobs at its department stores and Waitrose grocery chain.
Most of the losses are store management roles said the employee-owned business, which earlier this year cut the annual staff bonus for the first time since 1953.
Job losses at the business have now reached 4,000 since chair Dame Sharon White embarked on a restructuring programme and cost-cutting drive to stem the group's growing losses
JLP made a loss of £517m for the year to January 30 2021.
No more shop closures are planned said the group, which has closed 16 John Lewis stores since the restructuring got underway last year.
A spokesperson told Sky News: "We have announced to our partners our intention to simplify our management structures in Waitrose and John Lewis stores, which will allow us to reinvest in what matters most to our customers."
The chain last week announced it would build 10,000 flats and houses to rent on its land near Waitrose stores.
