BT Group PLC (LON:BT.A) said it has reached an agreement with the Communication Workers Union (CWU) covering the firm’s planned modernisation plans.
The FTSE 100 telecoms giant said as part of the deal it has committed to implement a pay increase for UK staff next year, the details of which have yet to be determined, as well as a review of sites earmarked for closure and efforts to reduce compulsory redundancy.

“As we implement our plans to build a better BT for the future, how we get there is every bit as important as the detail of our plans. Reaching this agreement is the culmination of intensive negotiations between BT and the CWU and it also recognises their role as a critical stakeholder as BT moves forward with its modernisation plans”, BT said in a statement.
“The continued support and dedication of our colleagues, our unions and their members is paramount and the agreement announced today will allow us to progress BT’s modernisation agenda and enable us to achieve our cost savings targets. Our outlook therefore remains unchanged”, the company added.
Shares in BT were down 3.1% at 183.8p in late morning trading on Thursday.
