DGO Gold intersects semi-massive sulphides at Yerrida

Maiden diamond drilling has intersected +30 metres of sulphide mineralisation containing disseminated chalcopyrite within intervals of pyrrhotite-pyrite.

DGO Gold Ltd‘s (ASX:DGO) maiden diamond drilling at Yerrida in Western Australia’s Mid-West has intersected more than 30 metres of strong sulphide mineralisation within the target zone.

Geological logging of the maiden diamond hole has revealed the encouraging sulphides that includes stratabound zones of pyrrhotite and pyrite with disseminated chalcopyrite.

DGO also intersected a 1.8-metre interval of semi-massive pyrrhotite-pyrite from 302.2 metres to 304 metres and the company is now prioritising sampling and analysis of this core.

Yerrida is 75 kilometres south of Sandfire Resources Ltd’s (ASX:SFR) DeGrussa Copper-Gold Mine and 60 kilometres northeast of Meekatharra.

DGO has built a strategic land position of 14 exploration licences covering 2,501 square kilometres of the Yerrida Basin.

Excited by preliminary results

DGO executive chairman Eduard Eshuys said: “DGO has spent the last five years utilising the best geological knowledge and techniques to develop compelling targets.

“We are excited by these preliminary results and look forward to updating the market with assay results in the near future.”

Diamond drill campaign

The diamond hole at Yerrida, 21YEDD0001, was designed to test strong alteration intersected in RC 20YERC0004, which intersected 132 metres at 1.3 g/t silver from 56 metres in a broad zone of anomalous gold, arsenic, copper, lead and zinc.

DGO is drilling another diamond hole 400 metres north of 20YERC0004, to test for alteration and VHMS mineralisation on the shale-volcanic contact within the axis of a broad synclinal trough.

Sulphide textures suggest diagenetic pyrite has been overprinted by hydrothermal pyrrhotite and chalcopyrite and provide strong support for the VHMS model developed for the area.

Electromagnetic target

With hole 21YEDD0001 the company is testing the 650 metres long airborne electromagnetic (AEM) target YE09, identified in the 2019 survey.

The company believes that the target may represent a massive sulphide body at greater depth than initially modelled in the 2019 survey.

YE09 lies within a broader 10 kilometres long zone of AEM anomalies in the Johnson Cairn shales which are coincident with an 8-kilometre-long magnetic anomaly.

The magnetic feature, based on the sulphides intersected to date in 21YEDD0001, is now interpreted to reflect concentrations of pyrrhotite over a substantial strike length along the folded margin of the Killara Formation.
