Golden Rim Resources Ltd (ASX:GMR) has revealed a second high-grade gold shoot at its Kouri Gold Project in Burkina Faso, West Africa.
The company has completed three diamond drill holes (BADH016-BADH018) totalling 330 metres targeting extensions to areas of high-grade gold mineralisation obtained from previous drilling operations in the Central Lodes area.
Notably, drill hole BADH016 returned a high-grade gold intersection of 4 metres at 23.3 g/t from 67 metres, including 1-metre at 85.4 g/t.
With the onset of the rainy season, drilling at Kouri has been postponed and Golden Rim has shifted its focus to the Kada Gold Project in Guinea, which has all-weather access and where the maiden mineral resource drill-out is expected to continue.
High-grade gold shoot
The newly identified intersections lie on a parallel gold lode located 25 metres east of a high-grade gold lode intersected in previous reverse circulation (RC) drilling in the area.
These include BARC279 which returned 6 metres at 25.2 g/t from 8 metres, including 1-metre at 114 g/t and BARC278 which returned 3 metres at 9.3 g/t from 53 metres.
Drill holes BADH017 and BADH018 were drilled 50 metres along strike to the northeast of a fence of the previous RC hole BARC125.
While gold mineralisation of similar width was intersected at BADH017 and BADH018, gold grades were lower, the best new gold intercept is 6 metres at 1.2g/t gold from 115 metres in BADH017
Promisingly, these gold intersections are interpreted to be related to a new high-grade gold shoot called Kom Gold Shoot that has a strike length of about 300 metres and remain open at depth and along strike to the northeast and southwest.

Golden Rim managing director Craig Mackay said: “Our diamond drilling has successfully outlined a second high-grade gold shoot at Kouri, the Kom Gold Shoot.
“The core of Kom Gold Shoot grades +20 g/t gold and it has similar dimensions to the high-grade Diabatou Gold Shoot, located 7 kilometres to the northeast.
“The Kom Shoot remains open at depth and along strike and it is expected to deliver additional high-grade gold mineralisation to the Kouri resource inventory.
“The company is excited about the outstanding potential for more high-grade gold shoots to be located at Kouri, and we expect to return to drilling at Kouri later this year.”
Priority target for follow-up drilling
The Kom Gold Shoot lies on a line of gold lodes called Kom lodes, which comprise the southern portion of the Central Lodes where occurrences of very high-grade gold mineralisation are known.
Notably, rock chip sample assays up to 818 g/t gold and a drill intercept up to 7 metres at 11.0 g/t from 141 metres, including 1-metre at 60 g/t were previously reported by Golden Rim on the Kom Lode 750 metres along strike to the northeast of the Kom Gold Shoot.
There are several extensive gaps in the RC diamond drilling coverage along the Kom Lodes and the company has identified an area northeast of the Kom Gold Shoot where auger samples up to 2,449ppb gold (2.4 g/t gold) offer a priority target for follow-up drilling.
