Delta Drone International Ltd’s (ASX:DLT) specialist brand ParaZero has signed a multi-phase deal with Latin American drone company Speedbird Aero to integrate its patented SafeAir autonomous parachute technology with Speedbird’s fleet of delivery drones.
ParaZero’s SafeAir is a sophisticated, high-performance drone safety system designed to mitigate flight risks autonomously.
As a part of the partnership, Speedbird Aero will integrate the SafeAir autonomous parachute recovery systems into its entire fleet of delivery drones, which consists of three proprietary platforms, including a new VTOL and multirotor system.
Speedbird Aero works with leading Latin American companies, including iFood, ABInbev, B2W and Hermes Pardini, offering on-demand delivery services by combining drone delivery with other forms of last-mile transportation, including electric motorcycles, bicycles, e-scooter and e-bikes.
Rapidly emerging industry
ParaZero’s director of business development and regulation Aaron Gabriel said: “Aerial logistics is a rapidly emerging industry and ParaZero is at the forefront of drone safety.

Landmark drone delivery approval
In 2020, Speedbird Aero received Brazil’s first drone delivery approval from civil aviation authority, ANAC, after achieving BVLOS certification for their first delivery drone.
Throughout the certification process, ANAC regulators assessed the safety management and risk mitigation planning aspects of Speedbird Aero’s operations including ParaZero’s autonomous parachute system for each delivery drone.
Since the approval, Speedbird Aero has flown more than 700 BVLOS flights delivering parcels to shopping malls and other advanced operations, and to date, the total delivery flights to date exceed more than 4,000 deliveries.
ParaZero’s SafeAir system
Created by a team of Israeli engineers, the SafeAir system uses integrated sensors to monitor and analyse flight patterns and flight data of the drone in order to detect any sign of a critical failure.
ParaZero’s onboard computer responds any disruption and abrupt changes in flight patterns by instantaneously activate SafeAirsystem.
Once activated, the SafeAir system cuts power to the drone thus eliminating any risk of injury from propellers, alerts people on the ground with an audible alarm, and autonomously deploys the parachute, bringing the drone down to the ground in a safe, controlled descent.
