Budget carrier Wizz Air Holdings PLC said its planes were still only two-thirds full as it unveiled its monthly traffic numbers.
Load factor was 64%, which was broadly in line with easyJet’s performance (per its half-year report). Ryanair’s load factor in May was an impressive 72%.
Wizz, which says it is Europe’s fastest-growing airline, carried 1.56mln passengers in June, for a rolling 12 month total of 12.4mln, down 59% year-on-year.
Airlines have been hit hard by the decline of overseas travel caused by the imposition of tough Coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions on international travel.
Wizz focuses on routes to central and eastern Europe rather than the popular Mediterranean holiday destinations.
