Guild Esports PLC - Guild Esports agrees player transfer deal with Saudi esports team

Guild Esports PLC (LON:GILD) said it agreed to transfer professional Fortnite player Tai Starčič, also known as TaySon, to a Saudi Arabia-based esports team for a transfer fee of US$115,000.

The company said Starčič joined Guild on a no-fee transfer contract back in February that was due to expire in six months. The transfer deal means he has now been released from the remaining term of his contract with Guild.

The firm added that following the transfer its Fortnite team will still be the No 1-ranked Fortnite roster in Europe.

"We would like to thank TaySon for his time with Guild and wish him all the best in the future. Completing this transaction demonstrates how we can monetise the value of our player talent and deliver revenue opportunities through the transfer market with players who have reached a high level in their professional development”, Guild chief executive Kal Hourd said in a statement.

"Guild recently launched the Guild Academy to find and nurture new talent and is receiving incredible feedback from fans. In addition to revenue generated from the subscription-based service, top graduates of the academy will provide a pipeline of professional athletes for Guild's teams, thereby opening up further player transfer opportunities in the future", the CEO added.
