Auroch Minerals Ltd (ASX:AOU) has appointed Mathew McCarthy, an accomplished geologist with more than 20 years’ experience, as exploration manager effective from today.
According to the company, the appointment will strengthen the exploration team at a time when it plans to ramp up exploration at Nepean Deeps along with the recently announced drilling program for South Australia.
This is leading into what is expected to be an exciting period for the company over the coming months.

Auroch managing director Aidan Platel said: “We are delighted to welcome Matthew to Auroch’s executive management team.”
“His significant knowledge and experience in mineral exploration in Australia, particularly in nickel sulphides in the Norseman-Wiluna Greenstone Belt, is a perfect complement to the company, and we look forward to advancing exploration of our portfolio of high-quality nickel and base metal projects.
McCarthy’s experience
McCarthy, who has also served in business development roles, has significant experience in all phases of exploration across a diverse range of commodities including gold, base metals and, of particular note, nickel sulphides.
He has been involved in greenfields and brownfields discoveries and provided leadership to successful exploration teams and large resource definition programs.
Prior to this appointment, he was working as the principal geologist at BHP – Nickel West (ASX:BHP) and before that as exploration manager at St George Mining Ltd (ASC:SGQ).
McCarthy holds a Bachelor of Science degree with Honours in Geology from the University of Western Australia and is a member of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists and a Fellow of the Society of Economic Geologists.
Joint company secretary resigns
The company has also announced the resignation of James Bahen from the post of joint company secretary effective June 30, 2021.
Rebecca Moylan will continue as sole company secretary in addition to her role as chief financial officer.
