Psyched Wellness Ltd (CSE:PSYC) (OTCQB:PSYCF) (FRA:5U9) announced it has kicked off its next preclinical study of AME-1, its proprietary Amanita muscaria extract.
The 90-day oral toxicity study will look at the effects of Amanita muscaria on rodents, the company said in a statement.
Psyched is partnering with contract research organization KGK Science to complete the study.

The company is hoping to gain information on the possible anatomical responses that could arise from repeated exposure over a period of time, as well as insights into any major toxic effects, indicate target organs and the possibility of accumulation of test chemical.
Psyched added that the study can help provide an estimate of a “no-observed-adverse-effect level (NOAEL) of exposure” that can be used in selecting dose levels for chronic studies and for establishing safety criteria for human exposure.
"Once we have the data from both the 14-day oral toxicity study and 90-day oral toxicity study, we will be able to confidently determine safe dosage levels for AME-1," said Brian Tancowny, scientific advisor for Psyched Wellness.
Psyched CEO Jeff Stevens added that the data from the studies will give the company “foundational knowledge” from which its consumer products can be derived.

Toronto-based Psyched is a health supplements company focused on mushroom-derived products and associated consumer packaged goods. The group is developing a line of Amanita muscaria-derived water-based extracts, teas and capsules designed to help promote stress relief, relaxation and assist with restful sleeping.
