Micro Focus and Micron among handful of companies reporting

Earnings remain subdued on both sides of the pond, with Micro Focus reporting interims in the UK on Thursday while in the US, Micron Technology reports its Q3 numbers on Wednesday.

The week ahead

In the UK, we anticipate final results from SEEEN plc (LON: SEE), D4t4 Solutions PLC (LON: D4T4) and Trakm8 Holdings PLC (LON: TRAK) and interim results from Micro Focus International plc (LON: MCRO).

SEEEN, the technology and media platform, reports final results tomorrow, for the period ending in December. In its trading update in April, the company, previously known as Entertainment AI, said that first-quarter revenues for the period ending in March had risen by 12.8% to US$2.3mln. In April, the group announced the launch of a new product, Dialog-To-Clip, for sale to video creators on Adobe's app store. In addition, the company appointed a new sales adviser to accelerate the sales plan for its product portfolio, which includes CreatorSuite and JetStream, with larger brands and publishers.

D4T4, the data solutions provider, announces final results tomorrow. In its April trading update, the company said that following a strong second half, group revenue and adjusted profit before tax were both expected to be ahead of the board's prior expectations at about £22.8mln and £4.2mln respectively. The key annual recurring revenue (ARR) metric rose by 11% year on year to a record £10.6mln. The group finished the period with cash of around £14.2mln and has no debt. In addition, the company announced a board success plan whereby Peter Kear, the chief executive was likely to be succeeded by Bill Bruno, the current vice president of D4t4's US business, by the middle of next 2022. In May the company announced the launch of Celebrus Version 9.4 and in June it announced the launch of Celebrus Fraud Data Platform.

Trakm8, the telematics and data insight provider, announced final results tomorrow. In its April trading update, it said that full-year revenues were in line with previous guidance at £16.0mln, reflecting an 18% decline on the prior year. As expected, COVID-19 materially affected the company in the last three months of the year, with significantly reduced hardware shipments to the group Insurance customers and with a less significant, but meaningful, impact on Fleet customers. Nevertheless, due to the cost reduction actions, the group expects to achieve an adjusted loss for the financial year in line with previous guidance of circa £0.3mln.The group’s net debt position reduced by £0.8mln over the year to close at £4.9mln (£6.8mln after IFRS 16 changes). At the year-end, the group had £2.4mln of cash on hand and a further £0.5mln of available funds under an overdraft facility.

Micro Focus, the enterprise software company, reports interim results on Thursday. In its trading update in May, the group said it expects to report revenue and an adjusted EBIDTA (underlying earnings) margin ahead of market expectations. Revenue is expected to be roughly US$1.4bn, which reflects a decline of some 5% on a constant currency basis when compared to the corresponding period in 2020. The adjusted EBITDA margin is expected to be in the region of 36%, and reflects the strong licence revenue performance and cost savings from back office simplification, partially offset by the planned product investment. The group finished the period with cash of US$0.7bn and net debt of US$4.1bn.

Meanwhile, in the US, corporate earnings remain subdued until the new earnings season begins in mid-July. Among the few tech-related companies reporting include Factset, Tecsys and Micron Technology.
