tinyBuild's Secret Neighbor game tops App Store charts following strong PlayStation 4 debut

Secret Neighbor, a spin-off to Hello Neighbor, was launched originally on PC in 2018 but has seen a spike in downloads recently as it moved onto mobiles and Playstation

tinyBuild Inc (LON:TBLD) said its game Secret Neighbor followed up its strong debut on PlayStation 4 by topping Apple Inc.'s App Store charts.

Last weekend the game saw over 300,000 downloads on Apple’s iOS devices, the game publisher and developer said in a statement.

Secret Neighbor is a multiplayer spin-off from the hugely popular indie-game franchise Hello Neighbor, which built a significant following among gamers driven partially through adoption and promotion by YouTube gaming influencers like DanTDM.

tinyBuild said the Secret Neighbor game was launched initially on Steam, the PC gaming platform, but has more recently enjoyed a second wave of popularity as it is released on more platforms such as PS4 and iOS.

"Secret Neighbor was one of our first spin-offs of the Hello Neighbor franchise and it is great to see the fanbase growing on new platforms,” said tinyBuild chief executive Alex Nichiporchik.

The company also pointed to a ‘positive halo effect’ has similarly boosted its adjacent Hello Neighbor games which also feature on top charts on the App Store in a number of countries.

It noted that downloads of back-catalogue games now totals over 60mln, of which 20mln have come since April. In 2021, there have been more than 6mln downloads of Hello Neighbor 2, it added.

tinyBuild highlighted that its announcement of new game title “Tinykin” at the recent E3 industry trade fair (a remote/virtual event this year) was well received. It was the company’s most successful E3 reveal to date, it added.

“We're delighted to have recently announced Tinykin, adding more quality titles to tinyBuild's portfolio,” Nichiporchik added. “The success of Secret Neighbor, and positive reaction to tinyKin demonstrate our ability to strike a balance between catalogue titles and new releases."
