Global Lithium Resources Ltd (ASX:GL1) has completed its reverse circulation (RC) drilling program at the company’s wholly-owned Marble Bar Lithium Project, around 150 kilometres southeast of Port Hedland in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
The RC drilling program comprising 36 holes for a total of 5,454 metres was completed at the Marble Bar Project, which has an existing JORC inferred mineral resource of 10.5 million tonnes at 1% lithium oxide at the Archer Deposit.
The key objective of this drilling program was to undertake in-fill and step-out drilling to identify opportunities to further grow the existing JORC at the Archer Deposit.
The program was also undertaken to test surrounding targets, particularly in the Brockman Zone to the east of Archer and areas of outcropping pegmatite identified during the drilling program located to the south.
Early start of the diamond drilling program
Global Lithium managing director Jamie Wright said: “We are excited by what we have seen from this RC drilling program, which commenced in May as the company listed on the ASX and look forward to the receipt of assays for release to shareholders.
“In an extraordinarily tight market for accessing exploration drilling rigs, our team has been able to secure an earlier start to our planned diamond drilling program.
“The commencement of an early diamond drilling program, which was originally scheduled to commence in CYQ3, will provide additional momentum to our ongoing exploration at MBLP.”
Another RC program
The company has completed the RC drilling and the RC rig has demobilised from the site.
A total of 34 holes were drilled for 5,208 metres at the Marble Bar Project on E45/4309, and two holes were drilled for 246 metres on E45/4361 to test gold targets in the north.
All RC drill sample batches from the program have been dispatched to a laboratory in Perth for assaying.
Once all assay results have been received, the information will be used to assist the design of a further RC drilling program, which is anticipated to start at the beginning of the fourth quarter of the current year.
Further diamond drilling program in third quarter
Topdrive Drillers has mobilised a diamond drill rig to the site to undertake a diamond program of around 300-400 metres, starting this week.
The objectives of the diamond drilling program are to twin several existing lithium mineralised intersections from RC drilling as part of the company’s mineral resources drilling campaign and to collect samples for preliminary metallurgical test work.
While originally scheduled to start in the third quarter of the current year, Global Lithium has successfully accelerated this portion of the planned diamond drilling program due to rig availability.
The company is planning further diamond drilling to start later in the third quarter.
