GR Silver Mining Ltd (CVE:GRSL) (OTCQB:GRLSF) (FRA:GPE) has kicked off a 14,000-metres (m) drill program on its silver properties in the Rosaria Mining District of Mexico to test new prospective high-grade veins.
The company said it had mobilized seven drill rigs for the program, which will cover extensive silver-gold vein systems over a combined 75m strike length on the Plomosas, San Marcial and La Trinidad areas in the state of Sinaloa.
Vancouver-based GR Silver recently wrapped up drill programs at the Plomosas and San Juan areas within the wider Plomosas Silver Project.

In a statement, GR Silver told investors that its focus is now turning to silver- and gold-rich veins that have seen “little to no exploration activity,” including untested targets first identified through the company’s mapping and prospecting teams.
Two drill rigs have started turning at the gold-rich epithermal mineralization in the Plomosas South to provide step-out extension potential to the resource estimate that is currently in the works on the Plomosas Mine Area, according to the company.
Among the new areas to be drilled is the GAP Area system, which connects the San Marcial and San Juan areas, and the Loma Dorada structure, where GR Silver recently revealed high-grade results, including 0.65m at 10,777 grams per ton (g/t) silver equivalent.
"With the mobilization of seven rigs, we can now begin to test new Ag-Au [silver-gold] vein targets that we have had our eyes on for some time,” GR Silver’s vice president of exploration Honza Catchpole told shareholders.
“Our goal is to test a series of new project drill sites that can prove we are dealing with an expansive silver- and gold-rich system of veins and hydrothermal breccias. Additionally, we aim to connect the proven mineralized structures of the Plomosas and San Marcial Projects by filling the geological gaps in places where we have already mapped important vein structures on surface.”
Catchpole added that the firm expects the drilling program to “significantly expand the strike length of our vein system in the key structural trends.”
The 6,574-hectare Plomosas project houses a historical lead-zinc-silver-gold underground mine that produced around 8 million ounces of silver, 73 million pounds of lead and 28 million pounds of zinc.
