Melkior Resources Inc (CVE:MKR) (OTCMKTS:MKRIF) said a summer surface exploration program is now underway at its Val D’Or property in Quebec.
The current efforts are designed to collect soil samples and prospect, a follow-up to a 2020 survey of the same area.
The gold explorer operates two projects in Quebec, Val D’Or and the Maseres projects which is also undergoing a till and prospecting program. Melkior also has two properties in Ontario, its flagship Carscallen gold project near Timmins, and the White Lake project in Hemlo.

At Val D'Or, the company will test seven targets, collecting soil and prospecting each with the exception of Target 2 which will be subject to prospecting only.
According to the company, Target 1 is situated in the western area of the property and could be an anomaly associated with intrusion-related gold mineralization. This target is generated using multiple till samples that are anomalous in different elements including gold and silver, as well as several other metals.
All the areas, with the exception of zone 6 and zone 7 will target gold, with the aforementioned targeting silver and other base metals.
Melkior’s flagship Carscallen project is being advanced by Kirkland Lake Gold (TSE:KL) through a $110 million option/joint venture agreement. Kirkland Lake Gold currently owns approximately 6% of Melkior.
The White Lake project is being advanced by Barrick Gold (TSE:ABX) through a $4 million option/joint venture agreement.
Melkior is presently focused on advancing both its Val D’Or and Maseres properties.
