Panthera Resources PLC (LON:PAT) said assay results from recent drilling at the Paimasa gold project in central Nigeria will be delayed while some samples are subject to re-assay by accelerated cyanide leach.
“The decision to re-assay many of the samples reflect anomalies between the fire assays and certain check assays that were performed with Leachwell,” said the AIM-quoted company. “The Leachwell sample size is considerably larger and should provide a more reliable assay where there is a coarse gold fraction.”
Panthera’s interest in the project is held through Moydow Holdings Ltd.
Last December, Panthera announced a 300 metre diamond and 1,250 metre reverse circulation drilling programme at the project. Previous drilling by Moydow at the Dagma prospect, about 45km to the north-northwest of Paimasa, resulted in the identification of significant gold mineralisation within quartz veins discovered by artisanal miners, it noted.
