One Media IP Group PLC (LON:OMIP) has acquired a percentage of the producer royalties to tracks produced by Steve Levine, including music performed by Culture Club.
The digital music rights acquirer, publisher and distributor has an interest in the producer royalties of more than 100 songs produced by Levine, whose credits include work with Louise, 911 and the Honeyz.
The acquisition was completed under One Media’s Harmony iP asset release scheme, which includes the bespoke TCAT software that monitors music streaming platforms to identify unauthorised use and copyright infringements.
“Tracking royalties across the online world is extremely complicated… much better to partner with a company leading the way in this field. One Media’s TCAT software is a phenomenally powerful game-changing tool,” said Levine,
The acquisition has been funded through the company’s existing cash resources.
Michael Infante, the chief executive of One Media, said the company was a big fan of Levine’s work.
“Steve’s production skills are legendary, he created a sound and theme for the 1980s that was to become the sound of a generation,” Infante said.
