Global Lithium Resources extends drilling program at Marble Bar

An extra kilometre of drilling will maintain momentum at the lithium play as work progresses on schedule and within budget.

Global Lithium Resources Ltd (ASX:GL1) has extended its reverse circulation drilling campaign at the Marble Bar Lithium Project to cover 5,000 metres.

The latest program at Marble Bar is aimed at helping GL1 understand the lithium mineralisation at the project’s Archer deposit.

Step-out exploration will also search for extensions to the deposit’s mineralisation along strike and depth.

Extra 1,000 metres

The Pilbara-focused explorer has completed 24 holes for 4,126 metres to date and has despatched the first batch of samples to the laboratory in Perth.

Following positive progress of the initial 4,000-metre RC program and ongoing identification and ranking of targets surrounding the Archer deposit, the company has elected to extend the RC program to around 5,000 metres with an additional 1,000 metres to be drilled while the rig is on-site.

“Strong vote of confidence”

Global Lithium managing director Jamie Wright said: “We are pleased with the momentum of this drilling program.

“The commitment to additional drilling is a strong vote of confidence and will ultimately allow us to test a number of potential extensions and new targets identified as the program has unfolded.

“I was at site recently to monitor the drilling program and am impressed with the progress to date by our teams in the field, including Resource Potentials and Profile Drilling.

“We look forward to the safe completion of our current RC drilling program and receipt of assays which will be used to help design our aggressive follow-on exploration programs.”

Maiden resource at Marble Bar

ASX newcomer Global Lithium floated in May following a $10 million initial public offering.

Situated in one of the world’s major hard-rock lithium provinces, the company’s wholly-owned Marble Bar Lithium Project is just 150 kilometres southeast of Port Hedland and 15 kilometres northwest of Marble Bar.

In June last year, Global Lithium delivered a maiden JORC inferred mineral resource for the greenfields lithium play, comprising 10.5 million tonnes at 1% lithium oxide.

Global’s current exploration campaign is progressing well, with no safety, environmental or social incidents reported to date.

RC and diamond drilling results will help plan a further RC program anticipated to begin in the fourth quarter of 2021, pending access approvals and drill rig availability.
