Kodal Minerals ramps up Nielle gold exploration project

Two rigs will be running imminently at the project in Cote d'Ivoire

Kodal Minerals PLC (LON:KOD) has kicked off aircore drilling and has added a second drill rig, reverse circulation (RC), at the Nielle project, Cote d'Ivoire.

Th aircore programme is designed to test for gold mineralisation along the interpreted strike extensions of the gold mineralised zone, and will be supported by surface geochemical reconnaissance.

A total of 5,000 metres of aircore drilling will be undertken and the work will take two weeks to complete.

RC drilling will start once on-site checks are complete. This work is designed to confirm previously intersected gold mineralisation, provide confidence in the geological interpretation and to extend the defined gold mineralised zone. It is expected that 1,000 metres of RC drilling will be carried out over a week long programme.

Elsewhere, in Cote d'Ivoire, the company said it has completed an infill sampling programme and the material has been sent for lab analysis.

In Mali, the company confirmed that its operations are continuing uninterrupted despite the recent political unrest and that the country's mining ministry (Direction Nationale de la Geologie et des Mines or DNGM) is continuing to process the company's mining licence application.
