Carnavale Resources wraps up Phase 3 aircore drilling on exploration fast-track at Kookynie Gold Project

The program was designed to infill and extend the high-grade anomalies outlined in previous drilling in December 2020 and March 2021.

Carnavale Resources Ltd (ASX:CAV) (FRA:YBB) has successfully completed its third aircore drilling program of 135 holes for 7,432 metres at the Kookynie Gold Project 60 kilometres south of Leonora in the Western Australian Goldfields.

The program was designed to infill previous high-grade intercepts to provide targets for RC drilling and test the extents and potential of the structural features in the weathered profile identified in earlier drilling completed in December 2020 and March 2021.

This drill program followed up on high-grade intercepts from the second phase that included:

  • 2 metres at 16.25 g/t from 54 metres;
  • 2 metres at 3.40 g/t from 70 metres;
  • 2 metres at 3.43 g/t from 2 metres;
  • 1 metre at 4.54 g/t from 31 metres; and
  • 4 metres at 3.24 g/t from 14 metres (ended in mineralisation).

All samples have been submitted to the laboratory for multi-element analysis plus gold fire assay.

“Fast-tracking exploration”

The tenement package has been underexplored to date with multiple structurally controlled targets located under alluvial cover.

Carnavale executive chairman Ron Gajewski said: “Carnavale continues to fast-track exploration at the Kookynie Gold Project.

“It is fortunate that we have a great field team to complete our programs and are very pleased to be infill drilling around the high-grade gold intercepts and strong gold anomalies identified in our earlier drill programs.”

The company expects that the first assay results will be reported towards the end of June 2021.

Three areas of gold anomalism

The Kookynie Gold Project is along strike and adjacent to Nex Metals Explorations Ltd (ASX:NME) and Metalicity Ltd.’s (ASX:MCT) (FRA:P80) high-grade Leipold, McTavish Cosmopolitan and Champion deposits.

These initial aircore drilling programs have identified three main areas of significant gold anomalism in the weathered rock profile with high-grade gold mineralisation.

The strong gold anomalism detected in the weathered profile provided a vector to high-grade gold mineralisation intersected in the second round of drilling similar to that hosted by Cosmopolitan, Leipold, and McTavish.
