Finsbury Foods upgrades profit expectations after sweet second-half performance

The cakes and bread maker will also reintroduce dividends

Finsbury Foods Group PLC (LON:FIF) said profit before tax for the full year will be at least £15mln, ahead of current market expectations.

The speciality bakery manufacturer of cake, bread and morning goods said trading in the second half of the financial year has been strong.

It said it was driven by improving volume performance and its ‘operating brilliance’ programme which has resulted in improved line efficiency and lower waste throughout its bakeries.

The AIM-listed firm is also planning to reintroduce dividends for the financial year ending 26 June.

Shares rose 5% to 88.49p on Wednesday at the opening bell.
