Standard Uranium set to kick off 10,000-metre drill program at Davidson River project in early June

Leading the exploration program will be new vice president, exploration Sean Hillacre, who has just been appointed to the role

Standard Uranium Ltd (CVE:STND) (OTCQB:STTDF) said it has mobilized its exploration team and drilling crew to its flagship Davidson River project in the Athabasca uranium district of Saskatchewan.

The Vancouver-based company is planning a 10,000-metre drill program at the project to test the previously drilled Warrior and Saint trends, as well as testing the Thunderbird and Bronco trends for the first time.

Davidson River is located near two major uranium projects in the Canadian province - Fission Uranium’s Triple R and NexGen Resources’ Arrow deposits. Drilling is set to begin in the first week of June, the company said in a statement.

Leading the exploration program will be the company's new vice president, exploration Sean Hillacre, who has just been appointed to the role. Standard Uranium called Hillacre “instrumental” in running previous Davidson River programs and added that the new VP has experience working at NexGen’s Arrow deposit prior to joining the company.

Hillacre assumes the role from Neil McCallum, who is transitioning to lead technical director.

The company is also boosting its technical team with three additional geologists.

“As we embark on our largest drill program to date it gives me great pleasure to promote Sean Hillacre into the role of VP Exploration,” Jon Bey, CEO of Standard Uranium, said in a statement. “He has added three very skilled and experienced geologists to our team, and I look forward to seeing them all in action at our Davidson River drill program."

“I would also like to thank Neil McCallum for his continued leadership. He is not only a technically talented geologist but also a strong mentor and under his guidance I am confident all our geologists will flourish and develop," Bey added.

Davidson River is comprised of 21 mineral claims over 25,886 hectares. The project is highly prospective for basement-hosted uranium deposits yet remains relatively untested by drilling despite its location.
