Union Jack Oil counts down to West Newton B-1Z well testing

"The planned testing programmes at the West Newton B and A sites are the next milestone events in determining the development potential of West Newton,” said David Bramhill

Union Jack Oil PLC (LON:UJO) told investors that equipment to complete and test the West Newton B-1Z well, in Yorkshire, has now been mobilised.

The gear required for the programme was mobilised yesterday, according to project operator Rathlin Energy, including a workover rig, well test package, low-emission burners, and a wireline unit.

The company noted that the equipment will be ‘rigged up’ in the first week of what will be a six week completion and testing programme. Initially, the work will be carried out in daylight hours though once the testing phase is underway it will move to a 24-hour operation.

It is anticipated that following the B-1Z well programme the equipment will move to the West Newton A site to re-commence testing of the A-2 well.

"The planned testing programmes at the West Newton B and A sites are the next milestone events in determining the development potential of West Newton,” said David Bramhill, Union Jack executive chairman.

"The results to date continue to support the board's belief that West Newton is a large-scale, conventional onshore hydrocarbon asset with potential offshore-sized reserves and resources in place.

"We look forward to reporting to shareholders the results of this testing campaign in due course."
