Maximus Resources Ltd (ASX:MXR) (FRA:M5F) has started a reverse circulation (RC) drilling program of around 4,000 metres targeting several near-mine and regional exploration gold targets across its Spargoville tenements, which is 24 kilometres from Kambalda, Western Australia’s premier gold and nickel mining district.
The company’s initial focus will be on drilling around 1,200 metres at both the Yilmia and Karramindie gold targets.
The Yilmia and Karramindie regional exploration targets are incorporated into a larger 4,000 metres RC program, which includes mineral resource drilling at both the Wattle Dam Gold Mine remnant stockwork mineralisation and the Larkinville Project.
The Yilmia RC drill program is testing for a potential northern repeat of Karora Resources Inc’s (TSX:KRR) (OTCMKTS:KRRGF) (FRA:5RN1) Spargo’s Reward, along an interpreted Shear Zone, 16 kilometres north of Wattle Dam.
Karramindie program
The company is undertaking a drilling program at Karramindie, targeting gold in soil anomaly adjacent to the regional Karramindie shear zone.
The anomaly occurs proximal to interflow sediments similar to that seen at the company’s Redback and Wattle Dam Gold Mine.
The ultramafics and interflow sediments are adjacent to the regional Karramindie shear zone, associated with Anglo Australia Resources NL’s (ASX:AAR) Mandilla Gold Project, which is around 4 kilometres to the south-southeast of the Karramindie target.
Maximus expects drilling at Yilmia and Karramindie to be completed in around two weeks, with assay results to be announced as received.
Once completed, the RC drill rig will move onto mineral resource infill and extension drilling at Larkinville, appropriate for JORC 2012 reporting and obtain adequate material for metallurgical test-work to support completion of development studies.
