Sunrise Resources PLC (LON:SRES) said a test grind on a 500-ton bulk sample of natural pozzolan supplied to a large cement and ready-mix concrete company (CRMC) has been successfully completed.
The testing objective of the CRMC, a potential offtaker, was to assess the suitability of its surplus cement clinker milling facility for grinding the natural pozzolan and to then test the ground product in some commercial scale concrete pours.
The material was successfully ground to the target size and concrete trials are now being organised.
The CRMC's manager of mining has recently completed a due diligence field visit to Sunrise’s CS pozzolan-perlite project in Nevada, US.
"I am happy to be reporting important progress and favourable results from the commercial scale grinding of our natural pozzolan,” said Sunrise’s executive chairman Patrick Cheetham. “The use of the CRMC's surplus facility will allow for a low capital cost, low risk start up to production.”
“The CRMC is an internationally recognised company and has a substantial ready-mix concrete business that is a captive customer for its cement products, and which could also use CS natural pozzolan as a replacement for the large volumes of fly ash it has traditionally used in its concrete business," he added.
