Maximus Resources gets drill spinning across Spargoville tenements, WA

Maximus Resources Ltd (ASX:MXR) has commenced a 1,200 metres RC drilling program across selected regional exploration gold targets at its Spargoville tenements, which is 24 kilometres from Kambalda, Western Australia’s premier gold and nickel mining district.

The Yilmia and Karramindie regional exploration targets are incorporated into a larger 4,000 metres RC program, which includes mineral resource drilling at both the Wattle Dam Gold Mine remnant stockwork mineralisation and the Larkinville Project.

Maximus expects to complete the drilling at Yilmia and Karramindie in around two weeks and will announce assay results as they are received.

Yilmia drilling

Maximus’s planned 800-metre Yilmia RC drill program is testing for a potential repeat of Karora Resources’ (TSX:KRR) Spargo’s Reward, along an interpreted shear zone, 16 kilometres north of Wattle Dam.

Spargo’s Reward contains numerous historical underground workings, and a resource of 112,000 ounces (785,800 tonnes at 4.4 g/t gold) indicated resource and 19,000 ounces (151,000 tonnes at 4.0 g/t gold) inferred resources.

Mineralisation at Spargo’s Reward is positioned on the contact of felsic volcaniclastics along the north-northeast trending Spargo’s Shear Zone, which the Yilmia drill program is targeting.

Regional geological interpretation infers that the Spargo’s shear zone continues northeast across the Yilmia target, which will be tested on two separate northings, traversing east-west across the interpreted Spargo’s Reward shear zone.

Karramindie drilling

Karramindie drilling will target a coincident soil anomaly and recently mapped outcropping interflow sediments, which are adjacent to a regional structure and along strike from Anglo Australia Resources’ (ASX:AAR) Mandilla Gold Project.

The Karramindie RC program is targeting recently mapped surface outcropping interflow sediments similar to that seen at the company’s Redback and Wattle Dam Gold Mine.

The regional exploration program is a part of the larger 4,000 metres RC drill program targeting Wattle Dam North extension and mineral resource drilling for Wattle Dam Stockwork and Larkinville development studies.

Within the Karramindie target, two small historical workings have been mined on the sheared interflow sediments.

The targeted area is within a litho-structural corridor bound by the interflow sediments and the Karramindie shear zone.

A +50 ppb gold in soil anomaly is bound by the interflow sediments, suggesting that deformation along contacts of the interflow sediments have focused fluids, like that observed at Redback and Wattle Dam.
