QC Copper and Gold Inc (CVE:QCCU) (OTCMKTS:QCCUF) has unveiled more drill results from the ongoing drilling at its flagship Opemiska copper-gold project in Quebec ahead of a resource estimate earmarked for completion this summer.
The assays come from the first nine holes of the program, which is now 90% complete, and are aimed at validating and defining a near surface bulk tonnage resource.

"The total number of holes for this program is expected to now exceed 85 holes. Drilling is expected to be completed towards mid-May and the last assay results should arrive around mid-July, with the resource statement available shortly thereafter," Charles Beaudry, director and vice-president (VP) of exploration at the company, said in a statement.
Highlight results included 140 metres (m) of 0.44% copper-equivalent starting from a depth of 36m in one hole. Another showed 53.5m of 0.56% copper-equivalent from a depth of 31.5m, which included an intersection of 10m at a grade of 2.63% copper-equivalent.
The Opemiska project covers 12,782 hectares and covers the past producing Springer, Perry, Robitaille and Cooke mines, owned and operated by Falconbridge.
Beaudry noted that several of the holes drilled around the Perry Mine appeared to be visually better than anticipated.
"It is important to remember that the drilling program is focused primarily on validating historical mine-era surface holes which were severely under sampled," he added.
"We are confident that our current drilling pattern, which has been vetted by the independent qualified persons tasked with preparing the NI43-101 mineral resources estimate, will allow us to validate the historical mine assays and allow us to publish a compliant mineral resource."
The project lies adjacent to Chapais, Quebec, within the Chibougamau region and has ideal in-place infrastructure, including a power station and direct access to Highway 113 and the Canadian National Railway.
