Inspiration Healthcare wins Queen's Award for Enterprise for infant ventilator innovation

It is the third time that Inspiration Healthcare subsidiaries have been given the award

Inspiration Healthcare Group PLC (LON:IHC) subsidiary SLE Ltd has been awarded the Queen's Award for Enterprise within the innovation category.

SLE, which is wholly owned by Inspiration Healthcare, was given the award in recognition of its work in developing an infant ventilator with a software algorithm named OxyGenie that is able to control the amount of oxygen in a baby's blood within a narrowly doctor prescribed range. The ventilator was originally developed by the University of Tasmania in conjunction with the Royal Hobart Hospital.

Neil Campbell, chief executive of the group, said: "This is fantastic recognition for SLE which has been able to work with one of the leading neonatal research groups in the world and turn an innovative idea like Auto-O2 into a commercially successful product which is improving outcomes in neonatal intensive care units all over the world."

It is the third time that Inspiration Healthcare subsidiaries have been given the award, with SLE having also been recognised in 2009 when it won in the international trade category, as did a different subsidiary in 2019.
