Metalla Royalty & Streaming Ltd (CVE:MTA) (NYSEAMERICAN:MTA) (FRA:X9C) said it has appointed Douglas Silver to its board as an independent director effective immediately.
Silver co-founded International Royalty Corporation, which he helped build into the world's fourth-largest precious metals royalty company before being sold to Royal Gold Inc (NASDAQ:RGLD) for C$749 million in 2010.
“We are privileged to have Mr Silver, who is one of the most respected leaders in the royalty and streaming business, join the Metalla team,” Metalla Royalty & Streaming CEO Brett Heath said in a statement.

“Mr Silver has overseen US$2 billion worth of successful transactions in the precious metals royalty and streaming sector and will strengthen Metalla's board with his industry-leading experience. We look forward to working with Doug as Metalla continues to emerge as a significant player in the royalty and streaming sector,” Heath added.
Silver also commented, stating: “Having created, purchased and sold more than 150 royalties and streams in the past 15 years, I recognize Metalla's strong portfolio of royalty and streaming assets and believe that it has the potential to emerge into a major industry player. I look forward to working with Brett and his team as we strive to create significant shareholder value.”
The company also said it has granted 500,000 stock options to management and directors to purchase a total of 500,000 common shares at an exercise price of C$11.73 per share. Each option grant vests in two equal installments 12 and 24 months from the date of issue for a period of five years from the date of grant.
